Editorial Standards & Guidelines

BroadcastAtlanta is an independent media platform committed to elevating stories that deserve to be seen, heard, and trusted. Our editorial standards ensure that every article we publish—whether sponsored or organic—meets the same threshold of accuracy, structure, and reader value. We highlight credible innovation, measurable results, and professionals who strengthen trust across their industries.

Voice and Tone

Our editorial voice is confident, informed, and concise. We write in an assertive, journalistic style that values accuracy over embellishment and clarity over opinion. Sentences stand on their own without soft qualifiers or negative constructions. We describe what a business does, delivers, and proves — not what it avoids.

  • Lead with strength: verbs first, qualifiers later.
  • Favor direct statements over implied contrasts.
  • Replace “not about…” phrasing with affirmative framing.
  • Let evidence carry authority — data, quotes, and verified examples.

What We Publish

  • Original Features: Profiles, trends, and awareness campaigns created by our editorial team or commissioned contributors.
  • Paid Editorial: Business-sponsored stories that align with our standards and are clearly labeled when applicable.
  • Community Spotlights: Coverage of events, initiatives, or local leaders shaping industries and communities across the Southeast and beyond.
  • Public Awareness Campaigns: Editorial initiatives such as “Know Your Fourth” and “Curb Your Antisemitism,” produced for civic and educational value.

Journalistic Standards

BroadcastAtlanta operates as a media publisher. Every piece must be verifiable, relevant, and written with a reader-first perspective. Our coverage highlights professionals and organizations making measurable impact. Promotional language is acceptable only when grounded in fact.

  • Quotes must be attributable, edited for clarity, and faithful to intent.
  • Figures, claims, and partnerships require source validation (documents, datasets, public records, or on-the-record statements).
  • Every story includes a clear “who, what, and why it matters.”

Fact-Checking, Sources & Citations

Every statement of fact must be traceable to a credible source. We confirm business registrations, ownership, and professional claims before publication. When practical, we link to source materials and include dates of relevance for statistics. Anonymous sources are avoided unless disclosure would pose a legitimate risk and the information can be independently corroborated.

Structure and Formatting

Articles follow a clear hierarchy for readability and SEO performance. Each section builds context, then authority, then outcomes.

  1. Intro: Establish the mission, problem, or opportunity.
  2. Core Sections: Explain what the subject makes, does, or delivers — supported by quotes, examples, or media.
  3. Results / From the Field: Highlight adoption, response, or measurable benefit.
  4. About: End with factual business details, address, and verified links.

Use subheads in AP-style title case (“What They Make,” “From the Field”). Bold the company name on first mention only. Avoid decorative emphasis or repetitive brand names. Keep paragraph rhythm steady — most between two and five sentences.

Language Discipline

Our writing sounds informed, not inflated. Adjectives earn their place. Avoid absolutes (“always,” “never”) unless demonstrably true. Use plain, verifiable terms for credibility: “built,” “tested,” “adopted,” “delivered.” Avoid hedging phrases like “it seems,” “it might,” or “in some cases” unless supported by data or direct quotes.

Color and narrative texture come from concrete detail, not spin. Describe the work, the environment, and the results — not the writer’s opinion. When in doubt, show rather than explain.

Media & Visual Standards

Every visual element must reinforce accuracy and context. Photos, video, and graphics should originate from the subject, a BroadcastAtlanta photographer, or a properly licensed source. Stock images are limited to contextual or symbolic use when original media is unavailable.

  • Images should represent real locations, people, or products whenever possible.
  • AI-generated visuals must be clearly identified as such and must not depict real individuals or imply events that did not occur.
  • Logos and trademarks are used only with permission or for legitimate editorial reference.
  • Video clips follow professional framing, audio, and rights-clearance standards.

AI Use & Disclosure

We may use AI tools for research assistance, transcription, or language refinement. All AI-assisted drafts undergo human editing for accuracy, tone, and ethics before publication. We do not publish unsupervised or auto-generated content, nor AI-generated testimonials or reviews.

Content Boundaries & Unsuitable Elements

Editorial credibility depends on discipline in what we publish. The following elements are routinely screened and may be edited, declined, or removed before publication.

  • Competitor Comparisons: Direct claims of superiority are avoided unless part of a balanced industry report with verifiable data.
  • Unverified Testimonials: Personal endorsements attributed to unnamed clients, patients, or customers are omitted unless independently verified.
  • Unsubstantiated Claims: “#1,” “fastest-growing,” and similar phrases require credible sources.
  • Stock or Generic Statements: Filler that adds no descriptive value is discouraged.
  • Speculative or Political Content: Avoid political positioning or speculative forecasts unrelated to verified subject matter.
  • Private Information: Client names, internal pricing, or sensitive operational details appear only with explicit written consent.
  • AI-Generated Testimonials or Reviews: Not accepted under any circumstance.

Disclosure & Independence

BroadcastAtlanta maintains full editorial discretion over all published content. Featured businesses may be clients, sponsors, or members, but editorial control remains with our newsroom. Participation or sponsorship does not guarantee coverage or shape conclusions.

Any paid placement, partnership, or sponsored feature is clearly labeled and reviewed for accuracy prior to publication. We disclose material relationships in alignment with FTC endorsement guidance and industry standards for transparent journalism.
